By Nancy Wembley

You shouldn't be short of reasons to be in Devon so why should you not enhance your experience with a stay at a guest house in Torquay. The town is both modern and classic with charming Victorian architecture that is found at most of the hotels and the reserved dignity extends to all areas of life here.

Renowned and award winning English breakfast are served and traditional fare will usually be on offer in the evenings providing the comforting and hearty dishes. There is always a complimentary hot beverage selection and in some cases a bar menu.

The traditional architecture might be charming but there is no shortage of modern luxuries. Rooms are usually fitted with all the necessities and there is always access to digital television and the internet. If that's what you came to get away from then you could always spend your time on the tennis court or in a heated pool.

They are all close to the sea front and a short walk will take you to the central area where you can find restaurants and entertainment. You can talk a walk along the Victorian Pavilion or visit the Princess Theater where you can see on of the traveling productions or attend an event.

Other interesting places for entertainment are the Little theatre which was once St Marks Church and the Babbacombe theatre or you could just view the area from up high in a tethered balloon.

The history of the area goes back a long while and it was once home to stone age man which is evidenced but the discoveries in Kents Cavern. Cave dwelling is not the only option any more and an opulent experience is more likely when choosing a guest house in Torquay.
