Caring for your new baby's skin can seem overwhelming when you are a new parent. For many new parents, the new task of parenting itself (even just keeping the baby alive) can be incredibly overhwelming. Baby skin care is often little more than common sense which should be good news. You don't need any fancy products to keep your baby's skin clean and clear.

The fact is that you don't need to buy a large number of products to keep your baby's skin clean and clear. Read on to learn some hints and tips that you can use to put together your new baby's skin care routine. Skip the powder when you change your son or daughter's diaper. Many people use powder because it is supposed to soak up moisture and keep the baby dry inside his diaper.

Whether or not you are ready to believe it, newborns don't need to be bathed every night. Most infants don't get very dirty early on in life. This is because they are mostly immobile and depend on their parents to get them from point A to point B. Because they are immobile, a baby's parents are easily able to control what a baby can get into.

Baths only need to be given two or three times each week if you keep your newborn son or daughter's face clean. Bathtime happens more often when the baby becomes mobile and get can around without a parent's help.

Test the baby's bath water before you set him in it. A baby's skin is more easily burned by hot water than adults. You might not believe this but most people don't start to like hot showers and hot baths until later on in life.

Put your elbow into the water to see if the bath is too hot for your baby. Your elbow has very sensitive skin so if the water is too hot or cold for your elbow you need to adjust the temperature of the water. At most your baby's bathwater should be lukewarm. This will keep you from accidentally burning your baby or cooling him off too much.

Acne is a skin problem that many people don't know can inflict their baby. The acne formation starts before the baby is even born - the mothers hormones are the root cause. It's really simple, some babies will produce more oil in their skin which in turn will clog their pores. You are never to let your baby's skin come into contact with any adult acne clearer!

Remember, proper baby skin care involves taking care of the baby's whole body, not just her (or his) face.
