Use A Juice Extractor To Have A Healthy Body

By Joshua Curtis

Juice extractors are machines that mechanically separates juice from fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, and herbs. Invented in the 1930s, juicers have been part of most households looking to drink raw fruits and vegetables. With the popularity of these appliances, a number of different types of juice extractors are now available in the market that guarantees the selection of the most appropriate juice extractor one would need.

The Triturator Juicer was the first ever juice extractor created. It was invented in 1930 by Dr. Norman W. Walker. Dr. Walker as a young man suffered from a serious illness that resulted from overwork. Unable to accept the concept of a sick body, Dr. Walker cured himself and from then, dedicated his life in the search for man's ability to extend life by being free from disease. He then established in New York the Norwalk Laboratory of Nutritional Chemistry and Scientific Research where he continued his search. It was in the laboratory where Dr. Walker later discovered the therapeutic value of fresh vegetables-which, in turn, resulted in the invention of the juice extractor.

Various reasons are being cited as to why people extract juice from raw fruits and vegetables. Generally though, juice extractors are primarily used to make smooth juice as refreshments from raw products. Nonetheless, juicers are also being used to extract juice that can be used as treatment for various diseases. Juice therapy today is among the popular naturopathy used in curing different illnesses. This is because concentrated amounts of phytochemicals, antioxidants, living enzymes, and vitamins that help fight against pathogens are contained in natural juice extracted from raw fruits and vegetables. Acidity for example, can be treated with grape and orange juices, while carrot and citrus juices are recommended treatment for diabetes. Aside from their medical value, juice extractors are also being employed to allow individuals obtain the daily recommended servings of fruits and vegetables.

Three types of juice extractors are now available in the market. These are the centrifugal juice extractors, the masticating juice extractors, and the triturating juice extractors. The fastest among the three types of juicers are the centrifugal juice extractors as they are made with powerful high-speed motors to allow fast and easy juicing. These types are best for those with limited time in the kitchen, as well as for those with limited budget as they are also the least expensive. However, for those looking for healthier juices, masticating and triturating juicers are preferable as they extract juice slowly-and slow juicers provide maximum nutrition and taste from juiced products. Masticating juice extractors employ single gears where juice is broken down slowly and extensively to produce a considerable amount of juice. Triturating juicers, on the other hand, though they work the same way as masticating juicers, employ two gears that run side by side rather than just one. The two gears, at a low speed, allow every last drop of juice to be squeezed out of the fruit or vegetable.

After choosing the type of juice extractor to have, consumers should then look for a brand or model to purchase. In this decision, one should consider the appliance's ease of use-i.e., it must be easily operated and does not require much effort to clean. Another important consideration is the percentage yield which refers to the percentage of juice extracted vs. the wasted material. Juice extractors with popular brand names are also recommended as they allow consumers to easily look for replacement parts if necessary.

Juice extractors are indeed vital kitchen implements. These appliances are great investments that will provide not only fresh refreshments but as well as juices with medical values. They also are great decorative items in kitchens.
