Deciding On Theater District Restaurants New York Has Everything

By Eleanor Thompson

If you have been waiting all year to see a much-heralded Broadway show you'll want to make it a night to remember. Rounding out the experience with food and drink before and after is part of the fun. Part of your planning should include choosing among the many theater district restaurants New York boasts.

Your choices of places to eat and drink my differ slightly if you are attending a matinee rather than an evening performance. But early or late it's fun to gather with friends before the show to anticipate how fabulous it's going to be. And afterwards you will want food and drink over which to discuss how fabulous it was.

Your party may be satisfied with non-alcoholic beverages or you may need a full bar to put you in the right mood. Or perhaps you will enjoy wine or beer that goes with the Italian, Russian or Asian cuisine you will be served.

The theater district is big and there are probably about a hundred restaurants to choose from. While it isn't the best place for exciting and exotic cuisine Times Square is a good place to start. It's easy to find and close to everything.

Although there are a few unique eating establishments in Times Square most of what you will find there are 'safe' places for people who don't like to leave their culinary comfort zone. These are franchises and chains such as you would find in most American cities and many foreign countries. If there are children in your party who won't eat anything but McDonald's, Times Square is the place for you.

There are a few original dining venues mixed in among Times Square chains including an elegant pizzeria in what used to be a church. There's a unique barbecue place and several one-of-a-kind Asian establishments. Do some research in advance. Make sure the cafe or supper club or boit of your choice is open late if you plan to eat after the show.
