Three Essential Food Types That Get Your Kids Through The Day

By Aden Christiansen

Thanks to fast food, your kids are more likely to make a meal out of junk than to eat the healthy food that they really need. So it is your job as a parent to make the most out of mealtime for you kids.

The key is to focus on the three basic food groups: Proteins, carbohydrates and the fruits and vegetables, which are categorized under the same heading. Simply eating from these three groups as much as possible will ensure a healthy lifestyle.

Your body relies on getting the nutrients that are provided by the foods in any balanced meal. If your body doesn't get what it needs it will break down as surely as a car without oil does. It needs certain specific things from each of these three groups.

The carbohydrate category provides the essential energy elements that your kids need just to move around during the day. Carbohydrates are contained in grains, cereals and wheat.

Getting your kids through the school day and through the afternoon is the job of the carbohydrates. That is why it is such common wisdom that a good breakfast is the most important way to start out the day.

Active kids involved in sports and such need protein to keep their bodies fit. But the rule doesn't just stand for them. Every child needs the proteins found in milk, cheese, eggs and meat in order to maintain the immune system and build up musculature.

Fruits and vegetables are the final key to a healthy diet. These give your kids the basic vitamins and minerals they need to stay awake and alert. The vitamins and minerals are employed in everything from the functioning of the immune systems to the processes involved in thinking.

It comes then to the question of getting your child to actually eat these things. That is a whole different matter, but with a little bit of creativity, you can keep your children healthy.
