Chicago Style Pizza In San Jose Is The Best According To Midwesterners

By Yesenia Terry

Those who live in the Midwest testify that Chicago style pizza San Jose is the best open faced pie in the land, and with good reason. This pie is prepared in a deep dish and has a thick, buttery, flaked crust, that feels the palate with delectable flavor. It is interesting to note that the original pizza was served in Italy as an appetizer.

The pizza that is prepared in Italy, traditionally is made with a thin crust with a light marinara sauce, and sprinkled with light cheese. In America, pizzas are considered the main course and not simply an appetizer. The Midwest style pie is a good example of how pizzas have gone from appetizer to main dish.

No matter where the pie is prepared, or how thick or thin the crust, every recipe calls for tantalizing sauce made from fresh ingredients. The sauce should be made with fresh tomatoes. The sauce should be prepared in a slow cooker, cooked for four hours on low.

In order to prepare the sauce, chop up one onion, grate two carrots, dice three garlic cloves, and saute in olive oil for three minutes. Place the mixture into a slow cooker and mix with fresh tomatoes. Add the spices and mix until evenly distributed.

Add one to two teaspoons each of oregano, dill, ground pepper, and rosemary. Some people add a teaspoon of sugar in order to offset the bitterness of the tomatoes. However, if carrots are added to the recipe, the natural sugar in the carrots offset the bitterness in the tomatoes.

Many pizzerias are known for their pies not because of their crust but because of their sauce. Some restaurants have family marinara sauce recipes that go back generations and consider their recipes as top secrets. Of course, the toppings and the type of cheese that goes on the pie, also determines what makes a good pie and what makes a great pie.

The residents of the Midwest believe that Chicago Style pizza San Jose is the best pie in the world, and they have good reason to make this claim. The crust is thick, buttery, and flaky. A pie lover could not ask for more, but natives of Italy might be surprised that what was originally an appetizer is now the main dish.
